Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of LFG Bot. By adding the bot to a Discord server, linking your Steam account, or otherwise using it, you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the bot.

LFG Bot is operated by Vee Squared Ventures, a business based in Portland, Oregon, USA ("we", "us"). It is free and provided as-is. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Discord, Valve, or Steam.

1. The service

LFG Bot helps Discord groups pick games to play together based on members' Steam libraries and stated preferences, and keeps a record of your group's game nights. We may add, change, or remove features at any time, and we may limit, suspend, or discontinue the service in whole or in part.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or older where your local law sets a higher age for online services) and meet Discord's own age requirements. By using the bot you confirm that you do.

3. Your account & data

Linking your Steam account authorizes the bot to read your owned-games list for the purpose of making recommendations. What we collect and how it's handled is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. You can unlink at any time with /lfg-bot unlink and request deletion of your data as described there.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Abuse, overload, or attempt to disrupt the bot or its infrastructure.
• Access the bot through automated means beyond normal Discord usage, or attempt to scrape, reverse-engineer, or circumvent its rate limits.
• Use the bot to harass others or to store or distribute unlawful content.
• Attempt to gain access to data belonging to other users or servers.

We may suspend or block access for anyone who violates these rules or abuses the service.

5. Third-party services

LFG Bot runs on Discord and reads data from Steam, and it uses third-party AI providers to generate recommendations and replies. Your use of the bot is also subject to the terms of those services — including the Discord Terms of Service and the Steam Subscriber Agreement. You're responsible for complying with them. We're not responsible for those services' availability or conduct.

6. Availability & "as-is" disclaimer

The bot is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, reliability, or that recommendations will suit your group. We don't guarantee uptime, and game data (ownership, multiplayer status, pricing) may be incomplete or out of date.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of (or inability to use) the bot. The bot is free; our total liability to you is limited to what you paid for it, which is nothing.

8. Intellectual property

LFG Bot, including its name, branding, and code, belongs to us and is a closed-source product. These terms don't grant you any rights in it beyond using the bot as intended. Content you and your group create (your messages, votes, and the lore the bot records) remains yours; you grant us the permission needed to store and process it to run the service.

9. Termination

You can stop using the bot at any time — unlink your account, or (for server admins) remove the bot from the server via Server Settings → Integrations. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these terms or abuse of the service. The data-deletion terms in the Privacy Policy survive termination.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the bot evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the effective date at the top. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that isn't resolved informally will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Multnomah County, Oregon. Nothing here removes any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the law of your own country or state of residence.
